Nº9 Atelier

A ready-to-wear label selling through pop-ups and DMs — we gave it a wordmark to build a maison around, then the site to prove it.

The Brief

Nº9 Atelier had real product and a loyal following from trunk shows, but nothing that read as a maison — no logotype, no site, just a generic Instagram bio and DMs for every sale. The founders were blunt about what they were competing against: “we need to look like we've been in Paris since '98, not since last spring.”

Our Approach

Three decisions that shaped the maison.

01

A wordmark with an ordinal, not a monogram

Nº9 Atelier had grown a following through pop-up trunk shows but was still running on a generic Instagram bio. We designed the Nº9 logotype in Bodoni Moda, leaning into the ordinal number itself as the signature mark — instead of the interlocking-letters monogram every other maison defaults to.

02

A lookbook, not a product grid

The homepage is structured as an editorial lookbook — full-width and split image rhythm, 'Look 0X' numbering with EUR pricing next to each — rather than a standard e-commerce grid that treats every look like a SKU.

03

European by every detail, not just the name

EUR currency, Paris/Milan/Copenhagen/Zürich boutique addresses, and a founding-year narrative set on Rue Cambon in 1998 — every detail reinforcing the maison, not just the wordmark sitting at the top of the page.

How We Got There

Brief to launch.

15 Days

Logo + site, start to launch

01

Days 1–3

Discovery & Identity Direction

Reviewed the existing pop-up merchandising and social presence; agreed the ordinal 'Nº9' mark as the identity anchor over a monogram.

02

Days 4–6

Logo & Type System

Finalized the Nº9 logotype in Bodoni Moda, paired with Jost for UI and body text across the site.

03

Days 7–13

Web Design & Build

Built the lookbook gallery, category tiles, Maison story and Boutiques band, and wired EUR pricing throughout.

04

Days 14–15

Review & Launch

Two rounds of revisions with the founders, launched ahead of the FW25 collection drop.

Outcome

What the site actually did.

Launched with the new identity in place across the site, lookbook and boutique signage references.
